So, if you noticed, I literally just posted two coconut protein shakes back-to-back. This was not intentional but somehow happened.
When I was making the recipe, I originally wanted a strawberry coconut smoothie but the first batch somehow had a rogue blackberry added to the shake (darn mixed fruit bags) and thus turned the beautiful pink shake a dark purple.
From just one blackberry. So I just went with it.
The shake was still beautiful and delicious so I instead of throwing it away in frustration, I photographed it and tried for the beautiful pink again. Success happened after the third try.
The second try didn’t have the beautiful pink hue that I was looking for. The taste was there but the image was not all that great.
So try again… and success!
It’s that pink just gorgeous? Gah, I love it. Yes, that is the true color of the shake, there is very minimal editing done to these photos.
So here it is… this protein shake that I have been drinking everyday for breakfast for the last week while I was in Nashville.
With such little time in the mornings before the training sessions, it was just so much easier to have my blender and blend up the coconut-y goodness before heading out for the day.

Do you have a good recommendation for a substitute for the banana? I’d love to try this and many other smoothie recipes, but I’m allergic to bananas. Thanks!
Hey Erica, You can always leave the banana out since you are allergic. The smoothie will just be less “creamy”
