Napa is one of my favorite places to visit and March in Napa is one of the perfect times, with average temperatures ranging from the mid-40s to mid-60s °F. Whether you’re planning to explore the stunning vineyards, indulge in gourmet dining, or simply relax with family, packing the right outfits is essential.
In this post, I’ll share the outfits I packed and wore during my trip to Napa, California, in the middle of March.
This trip was extra special as I celebrated my 40th birthday with my sister, husband, cousin, and brother-in-law. We had an unforgettable time exploring Napa together, making memories that will last a lifetime.

Napa offers a plethora of activities that cater to all interests. From wine tasting at world-renowned wineries to hot air balloon rides over the picturesque valleys, there’s something for everyone. Don’t miss out on the culinary delights at the local restaurants and the serene beauty of the Napa River.
For a detailed itinerary of where we stayed, what we did, where we ate, and the wineries we visited, check out this post.
Thursday: Travel Day
The first day is always a travel day and I usually try to fly in comfy clothes; however, since we were meeting my cousin, sister, and BIL I decided to dress a little a put real pants on for the flight and drive to Napa from San Fran. Also, it was supposed to be cold when we landed so I wore a cute puffy crop jacket just in case and then used it for the chilly Napa nights we had.

Friday
Full day of winery and restaurant hopping, since most of our vacations usually revolve around food anyway. Napa is cold in the mornings and at night, significantly colder than during the day, so I wore my suede trench this day with some green trousers. Of course I stripped the jacket once it warmed up during the day.

Saturday
Saturday turned out to be overcast and slightly rainy so I’m glad I packed my trench coat. We visited another two wineries this day and also had lunch at Auberge du Soleil for my birthday. I love tone-on-tone outfits and loved the way all the browns worked together in this outfit.

Sunday
Clearly, I stuck with a particular theme and outfit formula for this trip. I like to try and pack light(er) so sticking to only one pair of shoes helped tremendously with space. Then I just repeated with my favorite trousers in different colors and a couple bodysuits and tank tops with a coat… done.

Full Packing List:
Tops: Since I was sticking to one outfit formula for this trip, I kept my tops simple.
Jeans/Pants: jeans are totally acceptable at most places in the valley and even most of the restaurants. If you’re going to dinner I recommend dark wash jeans with a nice top and cute booties or shoes for a dressed up casual look. Or you could always wear a maxi or midi dress. I wore jeans my whole trip last time but this time just wore them at night after visiting all the wineries.
Shoes: You’re going to be doing a lot of walking while you’re in Napa so pack accordingly. I packed one pair of booties that were comfortable for walking a lot and a pair of sneakers for during the night when going downtown.
Outerwear: it can get cold in the valley at night so plan on packing a few layers. They also come in handy when you’re heading out early to catch an air balloon ride or the Napa Valley Wine train.
Accessories: the weather can change rapidly sometimes so I would pack accordingly. We did get stuck in a rainstorm during one of our winery visits but it was fine because we were under a covered patio.
