Remember that wreath I told you about? Well… I decided to make my own with some of the $70 splurge at Michael’s that happened a couple weeks ago.

In the past I usually just bought my wreaths and holiday decorations because I thought it was cheaper. Turns out it isn’t at all and the wreaths that you buy are usually not as full and nice as the ones that you can make yourself. All this stuff here cost me less than $15 and I’ve got some supplies left over to possibly make another wreath… or something else.

To make this wreath, grab this stuff from your local craft store:

  • One roll large deco mesh in your choice of color. I have a burlap/gold color.
  • 2-3 seasonal floral picks of choice
  • 1 package of closely matching mesh color chenille stems/pipe cleaners
  • 18″ wire wreath
  • Scissors or wire cutters

After you grab all your supplies, unroll your deco mesh, twist slightly & pinch together to attach to the wire wreath form with the chenille stems. I went around the wreath once on the inside 2 wires of the wreath, attaching the deco mesh about 9-10 times, and then again on the outside of the wreath attaching the same amount of times until the wreath looked full.

Then I took the floral pieces and cut them into individual stems…

… then I arranged them around the wreath and secured them with more chenille stems. I only attached about 3 bunches round the wreath but you can attach as many as you want to. I also hot glued a M to the wreath to make it a little more personal for our family. After that I made a little loop with a chenille stem and attached it to the back of the wreath so that I could hang it on the door.

Turned out quite nice. I’ve very proud of myself and still feeling pretty crafty. Time to look into making some things for Thanksgiving and Christmas that is right around the corner.

Do you make crafty stuff for your home?
