If there is one flavor that always feels like the holidays to me, it is apple pie. Warm spice, sweet apple, and that cozy dessert feeling somehow make everything feel a little more festive. And when I want that same vibe without baking a whole pie, this Apple Pie Cocktail is such a fun way to get there.

This is the kind of drink that feels especially right at the end of November and all through December, when the calendar suddenly starts moving way too fast and dessert cravings seem to show up daily. It has the flavor of an after-dinner treat, but it comes together in just a few minutes with a cocktail shaker and a handful of simple ingredients.

It is sweet, creamy, and spiced in all the right ways. The vanilla vodka brings a smooth dessert-like base, the cinnamon whiskey adds warmth, and the apple cider ties everything together with that classic apple pie flavor. Finish it with caramel sauce and a cinnamon sugar rim, and it really does feel like dessert in a glass.

What is an Apple Pie Cocktail?

Apple Pie Cocktail is a simple mixed drink that captures the sweet and spiced flavor of apple pie in cocktail form. It combines vanilla vodka, cinnamon whiskey, apple cider, and a splash of half & half for a creamy finish that feels rich without being too heavy.

It is the kind of cocktail that works especially well during the cooler months, when apple desserts, holiday gatherings, and cozy nights at home are all in heavy rotation. Instead of serving a slice of pie after dinner, you can shake up this drink and still get that same warm apple-and-cinnamon feeling.

What makes this recipe stand out is the balance. The apple cider keeps it bright and seasonal, the vanilla vodka softens the edges, and the cinnamon whiskey brings the spiced flavor that makes the whole drink taste familiar and comforting. Add a drizzle of caramel sauce on top, and every sip feels a little extra special.

  • Made with simple ingredients: Vanilla vodka, cinnamon whiskey, apple cider, half & half, caramel sauce, and cinnamon sugar are all you need.

Ingredients

  • Vanilla vodka: This gives the cocktail a smooth, slightly sweet base and helps create that dessert-inspired flavor.
  • Cinnamon whiskey: Warm and spiced, this is what gives the drink its apple pie character.
  • Apple cider: The apple cider brings fresh apple flavor and ties the whole drink together.
  • Half & half: Just a small amount adds creaminess and softens the stronger flavors.
  • Caramel sauce: A drizzle on top adds extra sweetness and makes the drink feel a little more like a holiday treat.
  • Cinnamon sugar: Used on the rim for a sweet-spiced finish that works perfectly with the flavors in the glass.

Substitutions & Additions

How to Make this Recipe

Start by adding the vanilla vodka, cinnamon whiskey, apple cider, and half & half to a cocktail shaker. Cover and shake for about 30 seconds, until the drink is well mixed and nicely chilled.

Next, prepare your glasses. Dip the rim of each Collins glass lightly into water, then dip it into cinnamon sugar so the top is coated. This gives every sip a little extra sweetness and spice right from the first taste.

Add ice to each glass, then pour the shaken cocktail evenly between the two glasses. Finish each one with a drizzle of caramel sauce over the top. Serve right away while everything is cold and creamy.

Cooking Tips & Tricks

  • Shake the cocktail long enough to fully combine the apple cider, alcohol, and half & half so the drink has a smooth texture.
  • Use cold ingredients when possible so the drink stays crisp and refreshing once poured over ice.
  • Do not skip the cinnamon sugar rim if you want the full apple pie effect. It adds both flavor and a nice little texture contrast.
  • A light drizzle of caramel sauce goes a long way. It should complement the drink, not completely cover the apple and cinnamon flavors.
  • Since this recipe is divided between two glasses, it is an easy one to make for date night, a holiday dinner, or a cozy night in.
